Acceptance

rain falls
without permission
and we have to learn
to accept the tears

to be wide open
to the abyss
that gapes beneath us

to sleep tonight
in cramped coffins

in still darkness

in terror

suffering

to dream of oblivion,
centuries of blackened skies

and the dead,
reborn with a whisper,
wait for a new age to arise

Background

    Your thoughts are
gorgeous     and scattered
in your wine-drunk mind

    I’m sitting feeling
so alive     and yet
so dead

    Your sentiments are
so serene
I’d catch on fire
if I could touch you

I’d burn forever
in your background
